“The same water that's in your body has been in rivers,
clouds, and glaciers. You're part rainstorm. Part mountain.
Part ocean wave.”
About me
Hi, I’m Sophia Zharkova (she/her). Body of Water is a trauma-informed approach to Craniosacral Therapy, integrating Mindfulness-Based Self Inquiry, with Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Myofascial Release.
I approach this work with deep respect for the wisdom of the body and the quiet intelligence of the nervous system. My work is trauma-sensitive, holistic, and rooted in the belief that healing doesn’t come from being fixed. It comes from being met. I’m here to work with the body, not against it, and to support a more connected relationship between body and nervous system so that change can happen naturally, on its own timing.
The fluid nature of the body deeply inspires me, how it holds, protects, adapts, and eventually finds its way toward softness, movement, and reorganization. I often think of us as bodies of water: shaped by what we’ve lived through, responsive to what surrounds us, and always capable of finding new channels when there is enough safety and support. That understanding lives at the heart of how I work. I’m a lifelong learner and continue to deepen my understanding of the body through ongoing study and practice.
Outside of my practice, I’m happiest somewhere wild, and most at home deep in the forest (climbing trees), on an empty beach (climbing rocks), or camping in the mountains. I love exploring trails with my GSP, and consider myself a dog person, though I’m secretly fond of orange cats.
I also speak Russian, and I’m glad to offer sessions to Russian-speaking clients who feel more at ease in their native language.
